Tennessee county laws

Select your county on the map or in the list. Each county page links to the official county code and meeting agendas, and lists recent ordinances and resolutions, in plain language where a summary has been written. County laws change often, and the official source is always the authority.

Good to know: Tennessee counties are run by a county commission (the legislative body) and a county mayor. Nashville and Davidson County, and a few smaller places such as Moore County (Lynchburg) and Trousdale County (Hartsville), have combined "metropolitan" governments. Cities and towns pass their own local laws; this guide covers county government only.
