Massachusetts county laws
Select your county on the map or in the list. Each county page links to the official county code and meeting agendas, and lists recent ordinances and resolutions, in plain language where a summary has been written. County laws change often, and the official source is always the authority.
Good to know: Massachusetts has 14 counties, but the county governments of eight of them (Berkshire, Essex, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, Suffolk and Worcester) were abolished between 1997 and 2000. Six still have county government: Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Nantucket, Norfolk and Plymouth. Most local laws are made by Massachusetts’s cities and towns.
