Illinois county laws

Select your county on the map or in the list. Each county page links to the official county code and meeting agendas, and lists recent ordinances and resolutions, in plain language where a summary has been written. County laws change often, and the official source is always the authority.

Good to know: Illinois counties are run by a county board (Cook County has a Board of Commissioners). Cook County is the state's largest and has its own code of ordinances; many downstate counties publish only a handful of ordinances. Cities, villages and townships pass their own local laws; this guide covers county government only.
