Alaska county laws

Select your county on the map or in the list. Each county page links to the official county code and meeting agendas, and lists recent ordinances and resolutions, in plain language where a summary has been written. County laws change often, and the official source is always the authority.

Good to know: Alaska has no counties. Its largest local governments are boroughs (and a few city-and-borough or municipality governments such as Anchorage, Juneau and Sitka), each run by an elected Assembly that passes ordinances. About half the state is the "unorganized borough" with no borough government; the Census Bureau splits that area into census areas, which are listed here for the map but have no government of their own. Laws for those areas come from the cities and tribal governments inside them and from the State of Alaska.
